Mystique Sewing Room
Hello,
I want to introduce myself.
My name is Mystique. I have been sewing the majority of my life. Handsewing for the first 20 years of my life, til I got my first sewing machine in my mid 20's, that was a 1950's black machine by Singer. I loved it with a passion and enjoyed making some new dresses, shirts and skirts. Then I got my grandmothers machine and started to use it...It was a rather different machine and I got annoyed by it cus it had so many adjustments on it, I couldn't figure out how to even use it ahah. At the time, I had toddlers so I had to take a break from sewing til I was able to learn more about the machine. So I went back to hand sewing.
I picked up sewing again once the boys were older and I forced more time to focus on my dreams I nearly forgot I even had. I finished an old project that had been years needing to be fully finished. A cloak. I also had saved so many clothes I loved that needed altering. So years in the closet! ahah It really was a struggle, between everything going on. Family and my own growth and such. So I really only had time to do a few alterations of my own and for the community I lived in. I did do some creations and taught a few classes. I also was known for having a super diverse wardrobe, so people would borrow clothes for Halloween parties. I would adjust and alter them, as needed. Something I might offer again. So many ideas!
So, here I am, yet again a few years later...Having to completely start over. Changed my life to the extreme!
Bought a new-to-me machine and now I am trying to start my dream again. Dreams do change.
My dream now and does still include a lot of what I found I enjoyed a the old house and community. The dream is, making corsets and suits and all things historical with an added modern touch because life is different from what it once was, yet you can still do a lot of the same stuffs.
I really love to sew and create. I love nearly all eras of clothes. Renaissance (16-19th centuries), Victorian, 1920's-50's, even love the Hippie era and Boho, even the new steampunk stuffs! Ball gowns too, but in a more historical aspect, in layers so we can mix and match.
I'm also going to be getting back into my hand embroidary. I do still have clothes that need altering, that I insisted on bringing with me on this big life change. I had lost soo much weight in this transition and things are finally starting to settle, so I can truly begin again...For like...Who knows how many times.
I am thinking that I wouldn't mind helping the community out with suits. A woman deserves to get the job she likes, look good and feeling comfortable doing it, no matter her income. We all have to start somewhere!
I do still like teaching too, so I am offering classses also.
I am a bit of a multitasker so I'm going to be also making videos of life things. Because I have had to change my life so much, I know that there are people out there that could use support and encouragment cus it can be extremely hard. Back to the old ways, kind of. Living my life, more simply. Whole foods. Home cooking. Cooking from scratch. Dark Cottage aesthetic life. Also self-care, but with a more nature aspect.
